Erik Dean is a Denver-based brand and graphic designer and the founder of Dean Maschine LLC, a freelance creative studio specializing in brand identity design, marketing design, retail and placemaking, and event and retail photography. With more than 20 years of professional experience, Erik partners with brands, developers, agencies, and marketing teams to create clear, consistent, and impactful visual systems across physical and digital environments.

Erik began his career in 2005 at a design studio near Washington, DC, where he produced a wide range of print, digital, and environmental design for government agencies including the Department of Energy, Department of Justice, and the Pentagon. His work included identity systems, large-scale environmental graphics, event displays, and national publications.

In 2011, he joined a fast-paced public relations firm focused on sports, lifestyle, and apparel branding, collaborating closely with brand strategists and writers to support marketing campaigns and brand initiatives for clients such as ECCO Shoes, Fila, and PGA National.

From 2015 to 2025, Erik worked at EDENS, a national retail real estate owner and operator. There, he led brand and graphic design direction for more than 25 retail properties across the western United States. His work spanned brand identity, marketing campaigns, placemaking, wayfinding, experiential design, and retail photography, helping create community-driven retail environments that connect people, place, and purpose.

Today, through Dean Maschine, Erik offers freelance and contract brand design services in Denver and nationwide. He provides senior-level creative support for teams that need strategic thinking and high-quality execution without a full-time hire. Services include brand identity design, marketing and campaign design, retail and experiential design, and professional photography.
