I spearheaded the branding, naming, and graphic design for a new automotive gathering for Porsche enthusiasts, akin to the commonly named "Cars & Coffee" events found across California. Collaborating with esteemed partners like Porsche Marin dealership and Strawberry Village property owners, my mission was to create a distinct event identity that transcended the commonplace while firmly taking ownership of the second Saturday of each month on the local automotive calendar.
After collaborative brainstorming sessions, we settled on the name "Motor Social," with the strategic addition of '2nd Saturday' in the logo lockup. The final design, featuring a shield motif, blends seamlessly with Strawberry Village's mid-century vibe while subtly nodding to the iconic Porsche emblem.
In crafting the complete visual identity, I endeavored to incorporate Marin County's natural splendor by featuring an illustration of Mount Tamalpais as the backdrop, affectionately referred to as 'Mt. Tam' by locals. Against this idyllic backdrop, a cleanly rendered 1964 Porsche 911 takes center stage, not only paying homage to the inaugural year of the beloved 911 but also establishing a delightful historical link to the founding year of Strawberry Village.
In addition to creating wayfinding signage and social media graphics, I surpassed marketing goals by designing an attractive suite of merchandise including enamel coffee mugs and commemorative t-shirts. These keepsakes played a pivotal role in an early-bird giveaway promotion, increasing excitement and driving traffic to the event.
